Hi, I recently got a HTC Magic and I have to say that I really like Android os it is by far the greatest mobile os I have tried. The endless supply of apps makes every day with my phone an new experience.Sorry for my rant I just wanted to give you my experience with the android os. I was hoping they would throw a bone to early Grand Central/Google Voice users.

I guess I'm going to have to wait to get the general public release.

Thats a GREAT question, around January 5th Google will most likely send invites to those that participated in Android Developer Challenges or Android developers in general registered within the Android Market.

T-Mobile shortly after should have a public crack at it with a heavily subsidized phone for as low as $99 after rebates/discounts.
