Google Phone Shaq Attack on FrAppDay

Posted on Feb 21, 2009 by Michael Martin in Applications, gPhones | 2 Comments

Jesse Bearden using Twitter tracked down Shaq at 5 & Diner in Phoeniz Arizona who then showed off his Google Phone to the poor guy’s Windows Mobile device.

Jesse took this picture with Shaq on his Win-Mo phone and posted on his site, so I would assume the phone in front of Shaq is his Google phone but it doesn’t look like a G1, so it is hard to tell.

I waited til Saturday for this FrAppDay post to see if Shaq would tweet back to me if he has a non-G1 that perhaps he ported Android onto and then calls a Google phone.

So lots of Android news this week as Shaq capped it off after the World Mobile Congress wrapped up in Barcelona Spain and paid applications emerged onto the Android Market as of Thursday night.

The FrAppDay review is done by Antonio Wells, Chief Editor and Founder of www.AndroidTapp.com, an Android App Review website offering unbiased, definitive and concise reviews:

  • Phandroid News – Mobile version of the Android fan blog www.Phandroid.com. Content is saved to the SD Card and can be easily deleted with two Tapps.
  • FitSync Demo – This app seems promising… you can search workouts and record your progress. For more features you can register with www.FitSync.com to sync your workout data.
  • iPhonulator – is a simulator app for the G1. Launching the app looks just like the iPhone home screen. The default icons launches your default apps; such as SMS, Email, Photos, Dailer, etc.
  • My Tracks – Another Google created app for the outdoor enthusiasts, allows you to track many GPS features such as speed, elevation, and distance. Plus share the data via Google Spreadsheets, Google Maps and even Twidroid.

Next week we should be able to play around with some of the paid Android applications and provide our review before you place your money down, although you do have 24 hours from the time you purchase an application from the Android Market to get a full refund.

    Michael,
    He actually had two phones. I didn’t get to see what the other was though. Seemed like a pretty plane-jane phone. Maybe a nokia? The one he was using was definitely a G1.

    I actually asked him, “Oh, you have two phones?”

    And he said, “Yes” in a way that said to me, “I’m Shaq, what did you expect?”

    @Jesse,

    Thanks for the quick response and clarification.

    Just didn’t look like a G1 and you said you took the pic with your phone, so I was thinking he either ported Android to another phone or had some special prototype…cuz you know, he is Shaq! :)
