I got tired of waiting and downloaded Cupcake installation package last weekend. It was a simple install. My experience is described on my blog. I have a regular G1 (non-rooted).

Did Google really expect this when they ordered a Cupcake?
They must have some sweet tooth! http://bit.ly/lH6ZA

Yeah, I am pretty sure that T-Mo hasn't rolled out the OTA for retail G1's cause I have searched the net and have found nothing on that. It seems only people that have a rooted phone got an OTA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHAqU1Iuhlw).

I'd just say hope for the best and plan for the worst. I plan on receiving it sometime in June. Most likely I will be pleasantly surprised. Plus, I'd rather wait for a quality update rather than rush it and not get all the bugs and things fixed.

T-Mobile sources claim it started rolling out last week to G1 owners, but T-Mobile ALSO said CupCake would come out earlier this year and we know how that turned out.

The screen shots and video walk throughs I have seen look to be people that installed it manually rather than via an OTA update from T-Mo.

I won't believe it til I see it and I have not received the update yet, but am confident it will happen by the end of the month.
