Google is only interested in supporting features that enable Google applications and services. For example, the G1 eMail app has never worked properly eventhrough they were provided detials about serious problems.

The latest RC33 release does nothing to fix these problems.

But, RC33 does add the "location" feature that is just another example of how Google respects personal privacy ... NOT !!!

May be T-Mobile has nothing to do with this update or they have not contributed in this update anyways. And yes, why T-mobile should bother about any firmware updates? Its just a service provider!. I guess Google and HTC are the one who should think about updates.

My understanding from recent information is that these RC updates are actually from HTC.

HTC said back in December that updates were ready for the G1 but they were waiting on (& pressuring) T-Mobile to release them.

Ok, I am now posotive that T-Mobile had nothing to do with this update. I have an unlocked g1 on AT&T and have been without data for a while but I got it back today 2/10 and after a few min. Of the phone being on I got a little popup for a system update....I was very confused because I was under the impression that I was (being on AT&T) could not get updates OTA but I clicked "update now" anyway and it took about 5 or 6 min. To update and I checked the build and it was indeed rc33. Because of that I think that this was a google pushed update. I also noticed the "System Updates" tab in "settings->About Phone" so I hope this means tht future OTA updates will be availible to me. ,Justin

@ James,

I know, who actually looks at the Contributions list, but its an odd omission.

As far linkbait, great if that results, but for it to truly be a linkbait play it should have had a top ten list, with some controversial pictures, and a HUGE blaring DIGG ME button at the end ;)
