Interesting images of a concept smell free compost bin that looks strangely similar to the Google Android logo or is this the true G2?
Recent video and images of a phone claiming to be the G2 is in actuality a Chinese knockoff called the Dream G2 from an unknown manufacturer – Sciphone? – out of Hong Kong.
Joe, who commented here at Google And Blog, pointed out that you can purchase the Dream G2 for $195 on eBay.
I know its out of China but doesn’t this seem like a trademark lawsuit waiting to happen?
In my view it has the trademark infringement trifecta on Google, HTC, & T-Mobile since it has “with Google” on the back and both the HTC Dream & T-Mobile G2 trademarks combined into its naming – even the box is a rip-off of the one supplied by T-Mobile for the G1.
Good Luck to Taiwan based HTC winning that case in mainland China!
BUYER BEWARE - The Dream G2 has the same QVGA resolution 320 x 240 as the Kogan Agora, which postponed its release due to that resolution limitation - in comparison the G1 has HVGA 320 x 480 resolution.
QVGA would not be forward compatible with upcoming Android applications that require a higher resolution which in effect makes the Dream G2 quickly obsolete.
So perhaps the Android looking compost bin would be a better option or at the very least, a place to store the Dream G2 until the real one comes out - perhaps getting its first public glimpse as soon as February 16th, 2009 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain.
Thanks to IntoMobile for finding the odd similarity of Android and the Compost Bin concept image.
the dream g2 is not claiming to be the real g2, and is not running android, just an android knock off OS, that can’t run google apps.
@Bryan,
Yes, but other sites claimed at first that this could be THE G2.
@Michael Martin, oh i see what your saying. Well yeah, but we just found out from the maker that the OS is just a mimic OS and won’t run apps from googles market.
I wish there was a way to play with that phone just to see what the functionality of it is. How messed up would it be if somehow those bootleggers made an android based phone with the cupcake branch installed on it?
