Android ROM Needs a New Jesus

Posted on Aug 21, 2009 by Michael Martin in Developers, gPhones | 4 Comments

JesusFreke announced his retirement from making Android ROMs and has passed the baton to Cyanogen.

The popular Android ROM customizations will stop for now as JesusFreke declared on his blog but opens the door to Jesus rising again.

Thus Cyanogen is now forefront in Android ROM development but will he become the next Jesus?

Apparently Deepak Chopra has already declared the Third Jesus so would Cyanogen be the 4th or was that JesusFreke?

Another up and comer in Android ROM development is Enomther whose ROMs you can acquire along with Cyanogen’s at AndroidSPIN.

AndroidSPIN also alerted me to some new Android phones in development from Commtiva Technology.

They are still in design but the preliminary names are Armaon, Auburn, Azal, Zeus, Faber, Fiano.

Once these phones are determined for distribution I will add them to Android phone list I have been compiling as I also add rumored release dates.

Updates will happen to the overall GoogleAndBlog site design this weekend which is why posts have been infrequent lately – Please comment below on suggestions for site design changes – but the site will be ramped in preparation for the soon to be Android Donut public release!

A way (/more obvious way?) To switch back to the mobile version of the site. I can’t find it. Lol.

    Ernie,

    Good Call!

I updated the current theme with a Mobile Theme button at the top if you previously switched it off so you can turn it back on again.

Should be "prettier" in the new layout.

    Thank You!

Too many scripts and css files in <head>. Combine them.

    Cloudream,

    I agree!

I will try to consolidate as much of the CSS/JavaScript code and externalize it as much as possible.
